I think this has been the craziest two weeks of my life. On the day that my last ezine came out, I was setting up for Live Boot Camp. Live Boot Camp was wonderful. I have heard from a lot of Live Boot Campers that this one was our best one ever! Our catch phrase for the weekend was, “Is that a puppet?” by Serena Lee.

I meant to email you sooner, but am still recovering from all the back-to-back activities I’ve had on my plate since before Live Boot Camp!

I want to thank you again for putting on such a great Live Boot Camp for all of us. The 2nd time was really the charm. I really enjoyed learning from you, Houston, Indy, and my fellow attendees. It was such fun going to all those thrift stores and garage sales, “working in the field,” so to speak. Thank you, too, for all the great laughs, esp at the restaurant, with the White Elephant. That was a definite highlight of this year’s Boot Camp :0)

I know you had a lot of help with Live Boot Camp, so please extend my sincere thanks to your Mom, Lee, Mo, Carmen, Jason, Deborah, and of course, Houston and Indy, for putting on such a jam-packed weekend of learning and laughs. Like wine, you all get better with age :0)

Coming back and attending eBay On Location, I feel really good about my eBay business. I know now, more than ever, that I can do it. I know what I need to do now to have a good, solid business. “I see the light,” so to speak :0)

So, thank you, Lynn, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing the Dralle Method with all of us, so that we can have successful eBay businesses ourselves. I know I’m not alone in saying that your generosity and spirit know no bounds. It’s so special to see your Grandmother’s spirit, enthusiasm, and love of life carry on in you and your business. I know she is looking down on you with great pride. You are indeed answer to many people’s prayers, for all that you do and all that you are!

When and how to clean bears and where to find them.

Diva Dawn (DivaDawnLV) will be speaking about Lilliput Lane cottages. She is a wealth of information about her little Lilliput Lane cottages, and it is a wonderful narrow niche.

Nancy Nelson will discuss ephemera. Ephem-a-what, you may be asking. Ephemera is the upper crust word for paper goods. Nancy will be showing us many wonderful examples. Too fun!

As you read this I am probably cracking up (laughing) with my mom, Mo and my kids as we set up at La Quinta Resort for Live Boot Camp. Or maybe we are all sweating to the oldies because it is 105 degrees. Only going to be 99 degrees on Friday. Yeah!

After spending a wonderful two weeks in Bellingham, WA, it is back to Palm Desert for Live Boot Camp. I found so many wonderful things in Bellingham.

An amazing dinnerware score.

This dinnerware set will be a main focus of Live Boot Camp and I expect it to sell for close to $1,200 when listed on eBay. You won’t want to miss seeing the DVD footage of my new session on dinnerware that we have added to Live Boot Camp. While in Bellingham, I bought a huge amount of merchandise that will be featured at Live Boot Camp tomorrow. So many fun finds! I shipped seventeen boxes back to Palm Desert at a cost of about $320. Another new feature of Live Boot Camp is going to be a focus on shipping. We will talk about what to charge and how to pack large sets of dinnerware. I think that most sellers get really frozen (like a deer in the headlight) when they have to price for shipping/handling/insurance. This new session is going to break through those barriers and I am working super hard to make it easy and entertaining.

My brother flew up to Bellingham to celebrate our mom’s birthday and it was a blast. It went by too fast but I was even able to drag my brother out to a garage sale! As you past Live Boot Camp grads know, my brother NEVER joins us on Saturday morning for garage sales so it was quite the coup to get him to join us at ONE sale. It was at this sale that I bought a huge stuffed dragon/dinosaur that I will be listing at Live Boot Camp. I think it may become this year’s mascot.

I was not going to write an ezine this week because of Live Boot Camp, but too many amazing things happened that I felt I needed to share with you all.

First, the Mel and Steve Woods clothing teleseminar was fantastic! I have NEVER gotten so many rave reviews and emails after a live phone event like I have for this one. I even ran out and spent $540 on clothes at Macy’s. It was a blast. Please read the Lynn Recommends section to learn more. Before I left for our two weeks in Bellingham, I took photos of a bin full of linens. I had bought the bin for $100 about three years ago. It sat in my garage for three years staring me in the face. $100 was too much to let go to waste. Finally, my mom wrote it all up for me about six months ago and I took photos before the Bellingham 2010 trip.

Here is that bin.

I was sitting in my mom’s beach house on 8/17 (Tuesday) and I said to my Mom, “I am going to list all of these linens today.” I will not leave this desk until it is done. Well, I didn’t get them all listed that day but I did list a lot. The results have been incredible. Please read my feature article, “Linens….Who Knew?” to learn more!

Also, I want to update you on the Portmeirion canisters from the last ezine. I sold three of them at auction for over $75.00. Yeah!!! That paid for my investment, the other six arrived safe and sound in Palm Desert and are now listed for over $200 in my eBay store. They will eventually sell.

The Monday after Live Boot Camp is over is my kid’s first day of school. I will take them and then on Tuesday morning I fly to San Jose with Mo. I can’t wait for the last eBay on Location!

This year’s final eBay on Location is in San Jose on September 2nd and 3rd–eBay’s fifteenth birthday. It is going to be a blast. Maureen (Mo) is going to attend this one with me. Countdown to eBay Live Boot Camp!

We are so excited for Live Boot Camp. Our guest speakers this year are fantastic!

We have my brother, Lee, teaching photography. He will be there to work with each and every one of you hands on. When I was in Las Vegas for my eBay Radio Presentation this past June, I had dinner with CJ Rizzo (one of my very first Live Boot Campers from The Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage back in 2006) and she said to me, “I want you to tell Lee how the one trick he taught me with my camera changed how I take photos forever and almost every time I use that feature I still think of your brother.” Wow! Live Boot Camp really is that powerful.

My mom is going to be back to teach about clothing. My mom has a masters in Home Economics, is an expert seamstress and

knows everything about fabric, how to measure, and how to list clothing, shoes and hats. She makes her bread and butter selling clothing (much like I make my bread and butter selling dinnerware).

Diva Dawn (coming back for her 4th live boot camp this year ) had a fantastic idea for more guest speakers. She suggested that we have each student teach 10 minutes on his or her area of expertise. “A Boot Camp Show and Tell” or as I like to call it “Around the eBay World in Ten Minutes or less”. Brilliant Diva…

Some of the items I have include match covers (my husband has an extensive collection of thousands, many from the 1940s), postcards, programs, menus, county fair flyers and newsletters, drive-in movie programs, maps, napkins and cocktail cards from old restaurants and bars, and many others. I always look for these items at garage and estate sales. Recently I sold a drive-in movie program from the 1940s for $65 – and paid pennies for it since it was in a drawer with a whole bunch of similar items, and I bought them all! I can bring a sampling of items to talk about. They aren’t always worth a lot, but sometimes I am surprised.

And those are just SOME of our guest speakers. Don’t forget there will be me, Mo, Carmen, Deborah and who knows who else! It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I highly encourage you to be spontaneous, sign up for our final 2-part payment plan offer and join us on August 27, 28 and 29th.

Dear Lynn,

I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated you making it possible for me to attend a 3rd Boot Camp. If my first Boot Camp was: “I know nothing.” And my second was: “Now I know what I don’t know / need to know.” The third was definitely: “Knowledge is power!”

Was a third Boot Camp worthwhile? DEFINITELY! It is always helpful to have a refresher on the Dralle Method; I learn new “tweaks” each time. And it helps to see how you do things and where I have diverged to customize it for me and how I can adapt changes you have made to your system to my routine to make listing faster, purchasing more reliable, and shipping more cost effective.

I also discovered that I have learned a lot in two short years! And I learned that there is soooooooooooo much more to learn. Our guest speakers (Joel Elad, Debbie Ybarra, your mom), had lots of great information to share. As well as fellow campers Sheila speaking about books and Suzie giving us such great information about selling Hawaiian shirts. And this year my head wasn’t so full of the nuts and bolts of selling on eBay that I was able to relax and take it all in.

From our opening breakfast, through thrift shopping and garage sale-ing, Friday night’s hilarious dinner and our reluctant departure on Sunday, 2009 Boot Camp was a treasure to savor. Was a third Boot Camp worthwhile? DEFINITELY! Would I come back for a fourth? Don’t count me out yet!
