Hi! Tomorrow is my birthday and I have a fun day planned with my kids! I hope you all had a great 4th of July!
This ezine is published once a week. Dear friends, I hope you had a great 4th of July and actually took some time off to celebrate our amazing country! Have you heard the recent quote from Tony Blair? "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in and how many want out." Good point! We had a great 4th of July. I took my kids to see Ratatouille (the movie--we loved it!) first thing in the morning and then we spent the day in the pool. I have to admit that I did do a little bit of work. It was hard to write this ezine for some reason. This whole week felt like a vacation with the 4th of July on Wednesday and my birthday on Friday--so it was difficult to concentrate on writing. Luckily, I had a great idea for a feature story come to me because of a fluke. As many of you know, I subscribe to the Antique Trader, Kovels Newsletter, and the Antique Roadshow Insider. I never actually get to sit down and read them. However, when they come in the mail, I quickly scan through them and then pile them up on a shelf (kind of like someone else I knew--my grandma!) Anyway, the Kovels Newsletter for June 2007 showcased antique doll clothes. I was shocked to see some of these outfits selling for over $1,000! Don't miss this week's feature article to learn more. For my birthday tomorrow, I am dropping the kids off at tennis camp and then I am heading over to the La Quinta Resort (where Live Boot Camp is going to be held) for a spa day! I am so excited. During the off season, they offer a 2-for-1 special so you get two treatments for the price of one.
Here I am celebrating my 6th birthday with my brother Lee. Check out my Grandmother's window full of antiques behind me. This photo appears in my new book Ka-Ching, premiering July 24, 2007. After my spa day, the kids will join me at the resort and we are going to spend the night! We want to check out this wonderful hotel before Boot Camp and they have a special rate this summer where kids eat free. My son Houston will make that worthwhile!! In the Lynn Recommends section, read more about this amazing hotel and the last chance to sign up for the eBay Live Boot Camp payment plan. In our Special Announcement section, I am so excited to give you a sneak peek at what Lee and I have been frantically working on. I can't wait to formally announce it next week but I can give you some hints today. I am also happy to report that over the weekend, I listed 150 items and got back on track! I did this while watching movies in the family room with my kids. We saw, Music and Lyrics, Grease, Taladega Nights and Snakes on a Plane. Unfortunately, I had to make my kids close their eyes and plug their ears too many times for those last two. But my I Sell sheets and the Dralle Method really make it happen--you can be with family and still list on eBay. Finally, this week we have another great story about the things you all have sold on eBay. This week's story comes from Diann. A garage sale find sells for nearly 90 times what she paid. Read her story below.

Getting in on the last chance for the 3-part payment plan for our ONLY Live Boot Camp of 2007. Since June 30th fell on a weekend, we are extending the 3-part payment plan option for a week after my birthday: July 13th at midnight. This Boot Camp is three days of hands-on intensive learning and fun. This will sell out because it is the only one I am doing this year and I am taking a very limited number of students. Remember, July 13th at midnight, is your last chance for the 3-part payment plan. Click here to learn more. We have chosen our location.
This is the resort where old Hollywood used to come to escape. Greta Garbo's winter home is on the property (some say it is haunted!) The hotel rooms are amazing and so is our meeting location. Come prepared to relax, rejuvenate and revitalize your eBay business as well as yourself.

I get some great emails from you all. Many of you want more of my time and personal coaching but aren’t quite ready for a Live Boot Camp or Boot Camp in a Box. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a way to offer you more of my attention at a low cost. Well, The Queen’s Court is being developed and will be announced next week. I am soooo excited about this! It will be like an inner circle mastermind group with me at the helm.
Lee and I have some amazing things planned for the first people who sign-up so watch your in-box on Tuesday, July 10th for more details! 'Doll Clothes Don’t Disappoint' Yes, I did say doll clothes. I have tried lots of dolls on eBay and lots of Barbie doll clothes without much luck. If you have the truly vintage Barbie doll clothes, they can sell for big bucks, but I have not been that fortunate. The ones that I typically find are from the 1990s and 2000s and not in great condition. Those Barbie clothes will eventually sell for $4.99 to $9.99 (for multiple pieces) from my eBay store, but that is about it. So, I was psyched this past week when something fantastic happened to me with doll clothes! But let me go back to the beginning. I received my Kovels newsletter in the mail about the first week of June. As I was quickly scanning it I noticed an article on Antique Doll Clothes on the front cover. Fancy 1880s to early 1900s outfits in great condition were selling for over $1,500! I was intrigued. To subscribe to the printed Kovels newsletter, click here. To sign up for their free online ezine, click here. The next thing I know, I am in my favorite thrift store and the manager walks over and places a huge plastic bin full of doll clothes on the counter (literally) right under my nose. Strange, but true! I ask "How much?" and am told that each dress is $1 each. Now, these were not 1900s doll dresses, not even 1950s doll dresses, but 1980s to 1990s larger size doll dresses. Most were handmade but some had manufacturer's tags. I quickly went through the pile and picked out the most pristine of the dresses--28 total. I finally got them all listed this past Saturday (remember I was playing catch up and listed 150 things this weekend)! Check out this one doll dress by Déjà vu or Deja Yu that got bids the first hour it was listed. Click here to see what it is up to. I had bought 4 or 5 Déjà vu dresses in that bunch. It turns out that another hot brand is called “My Child” and I got another 4 or 5 of those in the lot also. Click here to see what it is going for--it doesn’t end until Saturday, the 7th. 7-7-7. That may just be my lucky day! I have even had an email with an offer for one of the “my child” peach colored dresses. Someone wanted to pay me $15 to end the auction right now. Never do this. Always let the auction run its course. Any way you look at it, my $28 investment has already doubled as I write this ezine and there are still over two days to go on the auctions. Yipppeeee! You just never know. Lessons learned: 1. Look for doll clothes in any size, any brand as long as they are a bargain. 2. Don’t think that Doll clothes must be from the early 1880s to 1900s to sell. Think vintage--anything 10 years or older. 3. When shopping at antiques stores, thrift stores and garage sales, look at the vintage and antique dolls for sale. Their clothing (if fancy and pristine enough) may be worth the price of the doll. 4. Don’t overlook doll accessories such as shoes, hats, umbrellas and socks. Kovels reports that 4 pairs of antique doll shoes in very good condition (Made in Germany) sold for $840! Finally, I did some research on eBay. Check these auctions out! Click here to see doll shoes that sold for $560.75 Click here to see a doll dress that sold for $449.44 Click here to see a doll hat that sold for $177.50 Click here to see a doll outfit that sold for $404.99 Bottom line--Doll Clothes Don't Disappoint and are easy to ship! Happy eBaying, Lynn
